Family Gathering
04/05/2005
A sad day in Glen Orchy as all five Kerrs head off for Erica’s Mother’s funeral in Paisley. As often seems to happen on these occasions the weather forecast it overturned by the elements. Our forecast for wet and miserable weather comes to naught as we enjoy a pleasant spring day with sunshine, high clouds and a brisk southerly breeze. Everything goes like clockwork in Paisley and there is a wonderful support for the whole family. Judith, Erica and Steven all pay exceptional tributes to their mother as sadness and humour combine. Even more friends gather for a “wake” in Kilmacolm where perhaps mourning, although never relieved, gives way to a celebration of a life lived well. Many old chestnuts are retold and received as if they were being aired for the first time, refreshed by genuine affection. Back at the Tower of Glen Trollaigh, I have been left in charge of the Arichastlich, Old House guests and Diana Drummond. I think I terrify the former, and possibly make a bit of a haddie of the latter by rather over egging the pudding with the Country Living PR company, indicating that I might be able to attract a couple of minor Royal cousins to the event. This seemed to get some “Hoorah Henrietta’s” rather squeaky voiced. I shall have to leave Erica to untangle my Ardbeg fired exaggerations! Yours Aye, Archie, The Baron Trollaigh.
