Arichastlich lies in splendid solitude in the heart of Glen Orchy, one of Scotland’s most beautiful glens. It is protected from the rush of the outside world because the quiet single-track road is a through route to nowhere! Yet it is easily reached by road, rail and helicopter! The handful of residents and visitors enjoy spectacular views and easy transport connections to Oban and Fort William within an hour; Glasgow, Stirling and Perth only an hour and a half by road.
 

The Old House, an ancient stone building, was originally built by the Earl of Breadalbane as an isolated fishing lodge in the early 1800’s. It has been totally renovated by the owners, the Kerrs, who live in the adjacent house. to provide a large modern interior with fully equipped kitchen and spacious rooms. The property, overlooking the River Orchy, is suitable for a couple, for family holidays, or for sabbatical study use. It can be an ideal base for botanists, geologists and ornithologists. In complete absence of light pollution, the night sky can be quite breathtaking. Huge beech trees planted by the Earl still protect the property. The solitude and uninterrupted vistas give it enormous appeal.
